Local crew, local knowledge
Apex is where Carolina Premier is based, so if you're calling from here, you're calling your neighbors. Local rules worth knowing in Apex
Each Triangle town handles leaves, watering, trees and permits differently. This is how the Town of Apex does it.
Does Apex pick up leaves at the curb?
The Town of Apex collects yard waste at the curb every other week by zone (Zone A west of I-540, Zone B east of it), with a peak leaf season that runs from mid-October into early February. Leaves go loose at the curb, unbagged and kept separate from sticks and limbs. Yard waste produced by a contractor or landscaper is not collected. The Town requires the contractor to dispose of it, which is why our crews haul what they generate. Source: Town of Apex: Yard Waste Collection.
What are the lawn watering rules in Apex?
Apex has a year-round irrigation schedule. Odd-numbered addresses water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, even-numbered addresses on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and no lawn irrigation runs on Monday. Hand watering with a hose is allowed every day. Source: Town of Apex: Water Conservation.
Can new sod or grass seed be watered every day in Apex?
Apex offers a 45-Day New Landscape Permit that allows extra watering for new sod or seed covering more than half of a yard's grass area. The Town does not grant it for overseeding an established lawn, so a fall overseed has to establish on the normal three-day schedule. Source: Town of Apex: Water Conservation.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Apex?
Apex does not require a permit to remove a tree on an existing single-family lot when the removal is not part of a development project. The exceptions are trees inside a Resource Conservation Area or a stream buffer, which are protected. Your HOA may have its own approval step, and it is worth a call to the Town's Planning Department before removing anything near a stream. Do I need a permit for a patio or retaining wall in Apex?
In Apex a retaining wall needs a permit when it holds back more than 4 feet of soil, crosses a property line or supports a structure. The Town's guidance is that residential walls should not exceed 6 feet, with no more than two tiers. Check with the Town's permit desk before adding a large patio. Are there rules about where a yard drain can go in Apex?
Apex treats drainage on private property as the owner's responsibility. A private drain line can discharge on your own lot, but under the Town's standards a piped system may not cross a property line or end in a point discharge next to the curb. That decides where a French drain can outlet. Source: Town of Apex: Drainage Issues FAQs.
We work throughout Apex, including Scotts Mill, Haddon Hall, Woodridge, Salem Oaks, Shepherds Vineyard, Ashley Downs, Miramonte and Holland Farm, across ZIP codes 27502, 27523 and 27539.
